The Alto Knights 2025
I tend to enjoy mafia/crime movies, and I love De Niro, so despite this film’s shortcomings, I still enjoyed it. I think the film lacked in some aspects of its storytelling, and I wasn’t fond of certain elements of the editing.
I believe De Niro, no matter the quality of the film, is always spectacular (legend shit), and I personally think he played both dual roles in a way that effectively contrasted without being too distracting—at least for me.
It’s definitely not among the “greats” of mob movies, but it’s one that I can appreciate and see myself watching again at some point.

Nickel Boys 2024
I typically stay away from movies with heavier subject matter, but then I watch a film like this and am reminded of the absolute importance of watching them. This is storytelling.
Nickel Boys is a tribute to the youth, belief, optimism, and innocence that was, and still is, taken away. It is another representation of the racism and violence that was, and continues to be, endured, as well as its lasting effects.
