There was NO reason for to remake the perfect Swedish original starring the inimitable Rolf Lassgård 8 years later into a shot-for-shot American version with Tom Hanks. Watched via the back of someone else's airplane seat and was angry for the rest of the flight.

The acting was mind-bogglingly amateur in this movie (specifically Alex Wolff and GGB) - at first I thought that was the worst part of the film, but truly, the unintentionally risible dialogue is what's most unforgivable about the whole ordeal.

Absolutely baffled by the positive reviews. This was an absolute mess from start to finish, and contained basically four types of scenes, replayed over and over:
    - prolonged over-the-shoulder scenes of a text message conversation: closeups of thumbs typing and iMessage back and forth (with continuity errors, date changes and mismatched timestamps). Reading these felt like work, and added little to the story.

Really bad. I wanted to feel some empathy for the characters but really it was just 90 minutes of Sin-Dee and Alexandra calling each other "bitch" and spiteful bullying and taunting behaviour towards anyone in their paths. The only characters who had my compassion were the poor Donut Time owner (an immediate phone call to the police was warranted) and the sub-plot with the Armenian taxi driver. The other characters had a thick film of nastiness that ultimately made me not care what happened to them (especially Sin-Dee - despicable).
