  The imperfections of this film are what make it perfect. It's arch, oversimplified, and a bit of a runaway train, but as a mennippean satire & morality play it wins overall. Probably my favorite sports movie because the nostalgia of the game is barely there. It's about modern corrupt system that took a childs game and turned it into opportunistic capitalism that preys on the dreams of kids. Also, it's wild how the snake of the film tells the coach off with the truth, even if he uses that truth as ugly blanket. Also... young Shaq and Penny is a slice of heaven.

  Excellent setting with some strong acting. The final 20ish minutes is no-notes great. Sags a bit at times in the middle with some dry moments that felt like maybe the music budget had been spent and they had a small window for the mix. Other than one digital edit early, super solid production with awesome gore and makeup work. Stellar stuff for an ultra-low budget film. I'll watch it again for the beginning and end alone.
