The Brutalist 2024
Beautifully shot, gorgeous score, pretty mesmerizing beginning. Sadly it was rather disappointing overall. So heavy handed it must have been made of lead. Completely comes apart in the second half. Corbet needs someone to rein him in on the edit and the dialogue. And he clearly doesn’t have the maturity to pull off one particularly nasty plot point. I think people have responded so well because they’re desperate for the kind of film it tries to be. I’m giving it a star for every hour it lasts.
