The Hunting Party 1971
Gene Hackman is a ruthless rancher who treats his wife as a piece of property. After she is kidnapped, he rounds up a posse who use newly developed long range rifles to track the gang of outlaws who have taken her. A violent and nihilistic Western thriller whose themes somewhat echo The Wild Bunch in regards to end of the "Old West". It was good, but I would like to have seen Hackman get a bit more screen time as his character was the one I found most compelling although Candice Bergen and a clearly pickled Oliver Reed turn in solid performances as well.

Mortuary 1982
This is one of those VHS covers I passed by a thousand times back in the day. Never got around to seeing it before now and really had no idea what it was about. Turns out it’s a decent little satanic slasher with some giallo inspiration mixed in for good measure. Nothing mind-blowing but it was alright. Alway a pleasure when Bill Paxton shows up…

Dillinger 1973
Warren Oates absolutely kills it as legendary bank robber John Dillinger whose exploits propel him to rock star status and whose charm and charisma give him an almost Svengali-like sway over his gang and most everyone else who crosses his path. Tons of great action, humor and who’s who cast of great 70’s character actors.
