As a creative in an industry that's very much focused in the US, I absolutely loveee this. Ill rewatch it for sure even tho Tilda Swinton triggered my PTSD for all the terror bosses I had to deal with lol. She was too good at the role
cinematography was amazing, especially the shots of monument valley. got that same feeling of awe when i first watched lawrence of arabia. also interesting to see how reflective it is of white american morals/culture back then–very modest in depictions of violence but overtly racist. the film is conscious about this though, and it does critique it, but in a sort of breadcrumby kind of way. which i think is also reflective of the social awareness that was bubbling up in the 50's leading up to the 60's
what the heck, i wasnt expecting it at all but this is a visual masterpiece. ive been missing out!!
