The Man Without a Past 2002
The comedy of this film perfectly captures masculinity. Every male character is so earnest and self-assured yet ironically so clumsy and simple, from Nieminen’s overconfident miscalculation of 8x8, to Anttila’s charming “killer dog”, Hannibal. But beneath this bravado is an unspoken tenderness which makes for some beautiful, uncomplicated male friendships.
