People were hating on this one but I had a lot of fun with it. The kills were pure, giddy, joy and the ‘a Christmas Story’ style narration set a nice tone for a generation-spanning tale of paternal curses. It ain’t quality but I think the over-the-top camp here will age very nicely.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- 2025
I was painting models of Char before I even knew what anime was, so to have all this alternate UC lore dropped on me at once felt like a waterfall of nostalgia I wasn’t prepared for. Definitely a film in two parts but they each served their purpose well and were enjoyable in their own right. The transition to the new style was done very well — a beautiful flcl style with a promising cast and a refreshingly queer slant to the doom and gloom war-worship of mecha in general.
A nice tight 90 too ;)
