  Monumental film about the complexities of the post-war migrant experience and trying to reconstruct a life in a society eager for the skills and prestige of old Europe yet essentially offended by the trauma of the survivors... or not. Pity they fucked up the second half so bad (and don't get me started on the epilogue).
