An accurately melancholic depiction of a young child’s experience of comprehending separated parents, and the underlying, unspoken, strange awkwardness of always wanting both, but having to settle with only ever having one at a time.
As well as a dad who just can’t seem to shake off an ever so heavy, lingering depression, subtly stemming from a childhood belief that he’s not good enough; not for anyone to have remembered to buy him a present for his birthday without need…
