  I had an uncomfortable feeling crawling around my skin for most of the run. Not in your face scary, just deeply unsettling.

  The writing was solid, the dialogue in the awkward scenes especially felt too real; I saw things I do in real life portrayed. The visual representation of what it's like to take hallucinogens was also the most authentic I've ever seen. Surprisingly comedic as well.

  Gorgeous imagery mixed with occasional deeply unnerving moments combine to make this an interesting experience.

  Cuaron did it again, engrossing me in a film that on paper sounds boring, but in execution was enrapturing. His documentary style filmmaking helped me truly see a glimpse into what life must have been like in 1970s Mexico. The camera wanders like in his other films, and its curious eyes opens me up to a world that I would certainly never have experienced otherwise.
