    Good lord, Rickards lights up the screen every time she’s on it. 

    The movie comes across like it was written by somebody who understands wrestling and then rewritten by somebody who thinks everything about wrestling is some foreign language that has to be broken down and simplified in sloppy exposition. It’s very distracting as somebody coming into this knowing the rough story behind all this. 

    I do very much dislike how the carnival matches were presented.

    The POV storytelling style, combined with moments of nonlinear chronology, is very disorienting but that helps the narrative, stressing the confusion of the main character as he lands himself in a world he had been privileged to avoid thus far. 

    There’s a fatalist futility to it all which really speaks to how much the story brings you into it that you can feel it. It’s not a pleasant story but it is a powerful one.

    I hate that joke. It was funny the first time. It's been many times past the first time.

    Other than that, it was decent for a kid's movie. Definitely more a kid's movie than a family movie.
