Court - State Vs. A Nobody

    ★★

A highly sensitive topic doesn't need a safe bet that we normally shield our content with. Instead, it’s an opportunity to explore newer, untethered territories. The tendency to stick to cliched templates has diminished the true intent behind the drama in Court. Perhaps it’s a curse for Telugu cinema to adhere so rigidly to formulaic storytelling..

    Dilruba

The greatest part of Dilruba is the moment when the lead says, "Sorry". It feels like he is apologising to you for asking you to come to the theatres... To his credit though, he did give direct hints to walk out. If mindlessness and cluelessness were to have a baby, it would be this film. Every aspect feels so random and unintentionally funny that one wonders if this is a film or a film class on how not to make one.. 🙏

    Sabdham

When angels strive for justice, they can sometimes appear as devils, & discerning the difference hinges on a clear perception. Arivazhagan cleverly weaves "sound" logic into this idea but falters in the "execution" of it. As a result, the last 20 minutes feel random & dilute the overall impact. While Sabdham aims to be a brainy thriller, it becomes underwhelming as it gets entangled in its own ideas and over indulgent technical brilliance. 🥲

    Dominic and the Ladies' Purse

For society, we are encouraged to wear different masks either to conceal our true selves or just to fit in. When we intend to break free from these societal pressures and delve into the depths of our identity, we always shock ourselves no matter what. Dominic And The Ladies Purse tries to explore this point but fails to engage the audiences with its suspense and thriller genre elements. It almost feels like director Gautham Vasudev Menon went through a checklist to include genre elements, forgetting to connect with audiences. An opportunity lost... 😪😪
