My second movie of Shailene after 'Fault In The Stars' and the character role was done perfectly - to the tee! The subtle transformation and the unconditional nature of the love that Shailene exhibits is perfect, almost to a fault! Loved it!
Since I am on a Miyazaki spree, this movie stood out to me on a lot of aspects! Firstly with respect to the drawing and the animation! This was unlike any of his movies I have seen before and the beautiful water colour illustrations just made my heart warm up!
One also gets a deep insight into the Japanese culture and their rich tales of folklore! This was a sweet tale which has definitely made a mark on me like with all his other movies :)
I was late to get onto the Miyazaki bandwagon but man, am I glad! This movie was nothing like I have ever seen before. Rich in imagination and character design, this movie was a spell bindingly brilliant visual treat to the eyes.
Each and every scene had me gaping open mouthed at the visuals unfolding in front of my eyes!
Though the movie falls short of explanations in some key aspects like how she became young again or how the witch lost her spell, it was a beautiful story on the whole! Loved every bit of it!
