Top 4 are the most recent films I’ve loved
the first 100 or so minutes are above average but it definitely feels like it drags
the last 15 minutes? absolutely amazing bonkers fun

Parts I didn't like as much - I'm not usually one to notice scores unless it is aggressively good or bad, otherwise it tends to just blend into the background. In this case, the score continually pulled me out of the moment and felt like it was putting too much emphasis in what I, as the viewer am supposed to think and feel in certain moments. Really the most major drawback…
Nonlinear storytelling fucking blows most of the time, i think that was the largest detriment of this film. I hate to be a “stick to the book” type person but this is definitely one of those cases where the faults lie largely in its deviation from the source material. They cut out any sort of emotional or logical reason behind most decisions. The novel is dickensian in its meandering approach to Theo’s life, the movie? just jerks back and forth…
