  The Dark Knight 2008

  I don’t care if it’s an unoriginal take, this is still my favorite film of all time from my favorite director of all time. That was my opinion when I first watched it over a decade ago, and it’s never changed. From the first scene, Heath Ledger, Christopher Nolan, and Hans Zimmer (not to mention an iconic cameo from stellar character actor William Fitchner) set the tone in this crime thriller, and the intensity never lets up.

  The production and costume design are on point, but Erivo and Grande are easily what make this film. However, while it ends with a bang and easily the best song in Defying Gravity, I found myself uninterested in much of the earlier plot.

  A neon-soaked sci-fi post-apocalyptic western love story with sensational music. Not everyone will vibe with this ambitious genre-blending film, but I knew it was for me after watching the trailer. Sadie Sink needs more roles, she carries this movie on her guitar.
