was all set to leave a review along the lines of: this franchise has lost its heart with this mid sequel clearly aimed more towards the 3D theater experience, complete with corny acting including a knockoff Dave Franco. although on the plus side, there were a few nice CGI kills (gymnastics one specifically), and also Candyman returned.
then, the reveal came at the end and totally redeemed the whole thing. yes, I'm easy to please. can't wait for Bloodlines.
too tired to even delve into the implications of this movie with the current state of affairs in America. just gonna say, this is why I keep buying VHS tapes at Goodwill.

Really strong directorial debut from BJ Novak, and much of it was about what I expected from him. There was a lot to like here and a lot of potential, but the handling of the third act seemed a bit rushed and inconsistent with the character build. Either way, definitely worth a watch and I'm looking forward to more projects from him.
