I see that most reviews take Tom's, and the movie's, word at face value that he fired the shot that felled Liberty while Rance captured the glory (and Hallie's heart), but I found it more ambiguous. Even in Tom's late flashback to the second angle on the showdown (itself a second-order staging in the elder Rance's memory?) they both get a shot off. In taking the psychic burden of the killing off of Rance's shoulders, it provides the ideal conclusion…

Dune: Part Two 2024
Dire performances and writing, reminiscent of a mediocre later Game of Thrones season. Basically none of the A-list Hollywood actors managed to disappear into their extraterrestrial character roles. It had so many lines of dialogue that just made me think "that would've been better conveyed by silence." The epic fantasy sequences were pretty enjoyable, though.
