One of the most important pieces of media about the opioid epidemic, I fear. It’s almost baffling to me how every aspect of it, be it the cast’s performances or the writing, felt so real one could almost forget some of these characters did not even exist. The execution was nothing short of extraordinary.

If I had to pinpoint some of the things that stood out to me, I’d say I particularly enjoyed the branching, non-linear narrative structure, as it provided plenty of opportunities to fully develop the characters and contextualise OxyContin and prior Sacklers’ efforts in the devastating health crisis that has plagued the USA.

This isn't just a sci-fi epic of unprecedented quality. It’s a monumental achievement in cinema. I dare to say it’s Denis Villeneuve’s best film thus far. The pacing feels precise, the performances reinvent themselves, the music hits you to the core in an otherworldly way and the script is full of iconic lines, paying homage to the source material. Not to mention what has been accomplished special effects-wise. It’s all weirdness and mythos and I loved every second of it. Fucking bravo.
