Lame, contrived, badly acted, pseudo "moving" film. Dialogues are shallow and characters superficial. The constantly changing artistic headresses and hairdos were attractive, though..

Fast, hip and zany, it reminded me of Diva, the iconic French movie by Beneix even if the story is very different; but the mood, humour and thrilling chases in Baby Driver brought to mind the motorcycle chase in diva, the budding love story between Baby and Debra is reminiscent of Diva's main character's infatuation with Wilhemina Fernandez. My comparisons may be a little far fetched but there...
    Hugely entertaining...

Stereotyped, diffuse and not quite credible a story where ex-Frodo, dressed as a latter-day version of Robert de Niro in Taxi Driver takes on a bunch of villains that include KKK stalwarts, incompetent suprematist thugs and a media would-be guru. Oh, and not to mention a weapon of mass destruction. Complete with a gum chewing FBI agent and her sceptical bosses and one of the lamest ends I've ever seen in a so called thriller.

Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the most original, idiosyncratic, funny-sad and stylish new voices in modern cinema. I loved Dogtooth. Alps is in a similar vein, with its theme of alienation, control and isolation, with actors delivering their lines in deadpan, almost expressionless tones and the injection of hilarious black humour in the middle of basically bleak situations. His are films that can be seen from a multitude of angles. I read somewhere that his wife is the director of Attenberg another wonderful movie in a similar style. I would love to sit in on their breakfast conversations!
