Watched this again in memory of Gene Hackman - an absolute tour-de-force from him, superb. The scene where he’s in a cell doing cold turkey, while also getting drunk and, using a chicken leg and an apple, trying to explain baseball to the French cop, is just wonderful.

The Firm 1993
Well constructed, with a gripping storyline based on a John Grisham novel, always good source material. Good to see Gene Hackman in a complex and interesting role, as a man gradually worn down and corrupted by the depravity within The Firm, but still retaining a trace of decency and integrity at the end.

Loved this. Warm, moving, funny and sad. Beautifully acted, with totally believable relationships between the main characters. Special.
