  pas grand chose à ajouter parce que je crois que tout a été dit mille fois sur l’œuvre et sur le personnage (et quel personnage).

  « la jeunesse est une douleur si ancienne / en manque de compréhension » 

  david lynch sait trop bien raconter le fléau de l’ingénuité. les bonnes intentions de ses protagonistes deviennent une maladie débilitante au contact du monde des adultes, et l’écriture et la mise en scène de cette confrontation sont remarquables d’indulgence. c’est faire preuve d’une sensibilité unique que de raconter un monde cynique et sévère sans y ajouter une trace de sa propre sévérité. quelle grâce il avait d’utiliser son art pour nous rappeler que la tendresse apporte le salut.

  there is something so heartwrenchingly accurate about depicting the queer experience and the solitude it entails through an extra-terrestrial storyline. queerness as an alienating experience has never been studied and pictured quite as elegantly as this film managed to.

  i know they’re kind of the whole point, but the fight scenes didn’t really do it for me ; some parts of them felt visually unreadable and overwhelming.
  apart from that i have no negative notes, i loved this whole thing to bits. 
  « help, my emotional baggage has started to unionise » is not an easy trope to work with, yet everyone went down this road with grace. 
  soft, masterful, beautifully shot. 4/5 xx
