So much fun. Classic old-school 70s-style spy thriller, felt like Three Days of the Condor or a George Smiley story. Just enough camp and humour to make it a thoroughly entertaining flick, carried by an outstanding cast.

Unsurprisingly, the leads absolutely carry this movie. The story is a familiar one (though the non-linear structure does help make it feel a bit fresh) but we're here for Florence and Garfield, and they deliver. It was trying to explore a lot of themes (relationships, terminal illness, professional ambition, conception, family) and could have done with a bit more focus on one or two of them to really hit home. But it gets the waterworks going, and the petrol station sequence (IYKYK) is worth the price of admission alone.

I enjoyed it more on this re-watch than I ever have, and I think this is a Bond movie that really lends itself to a big-screen viewing. But it's still a movie of two halves - almost literally. Everything up until the reunion with Blofeld in Morocco is pretty damn good Bond stuff, and the additional humour works pretty well (people always criticise DC for being humourless, then criticise Spectre for having too much humour).
