Solid but doesn’t compare to the others
There is some cool stuff here visually, the underwater shots work really well and the visual shift to the desert for the training montage is also very effective. Also a great hero shot ahead of the last fight.
The creed emotional arc works fairly well, love to see a big strong man cry with his baby. But the fight with big bad in the middle doesn’t feel like the stakes are high because we’re only an hour in. Ultimately bets the story on the Rocky mythos and in the process feels more like Rocky 8 than Creed 2.

A movie of big emotions: collapsing to the ground in despair, crowds responding in unison, flames and rain and wind mirroring the characters internal states.
Yet the final outcome is muted. We didn’t win, we survived and no matter how happy their songs, the same is true for the farmers. This dissonance creates an intense bitter sweetness as the lights come up that is the stuff of true classics.
