The story of tonight is about a helpless monkey-like animal who loses his musical partner and parent figure, making it all quiet uptown. He won't give up his shot at delivering a song to the long lost love of his partner, one last time. So he joins hands with an energy-packed teenager on a perilous journey with guns and ships through swamps and hurricanes, doing everything they can to stay alive, before arriving in Miami to get into the room…

    Dune

    ★★

Denis Villeneuve's Dune is grandeur at a scale I haven't seen in the cinema since... perhaps never. It's a stunning masterpiece that spares no expense in creating the awe-inspiring landscapes and sets that makes every scene suitable for framing. It's expertly orchestrated by a magnificent score by Hans Zimmer, and Timothee Chalamet and the rest of the cast are amazing. However, Dune is an atrocious movie. Dune is not a movie, it's an art piece. A 2 hour and 35-minute long, five-star, art piece. And at that, it excels. Go watch this on the biggest screen you can find, anything else is a waste of time.

    Dune: Part Two

    ★★

If part one felt like a long intro sequence to an actual movie, this part two felt like a long recap made out of glimpses from a season of a tv-series. There's so many unexplained jumps in time, people suddenly learning things, relationships evolving, etc. As with the first one, five star art piece, two star movie.

Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) is a renowned conductor at the height of her career. She has achieved an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), has conducted some of the world's leading orchestras, and currently leads the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. However, something is driving her to the brink, threatening to destroy her reputation and career.

The movie is grey and bleak, mirroring Lydia's controlling and orderly nature. The only moments of warmth come when she is conducting in the auditorium. We…

    Quo Vadis, Aida?

    ★★★★

Quo Vadis, Aida? is an impactful film about the genocide in Srebrenica in 1995, helping filling the glaring hole in my modern European history knowledge. We follow Aida (Jasna Djuricic), a Bosnian translator employed by the UN forces, as the Serbs invade Srebrenica and force the inhabitants to the UN base. It's a chilling story about how brutal the events were, and how helpless the Dutch UN forces were in handling the situation.

Djuricic delivers a powerful performance, and the…

    Wonder Woman 1984

If you've missed the cinematic language of an 80's action/adventure movie, you've come to the right place. Exaggerated acting from extras, over-the-top scenes, extravagant set design, accompanied by an exuberant Zimmer score; everything aligns with a vision. In addition, Pedro Pascal as a capitalistic show-man con artist, complete with flailing gestures and TV smile, and Gal Gadot's calm yet powerful heroine, really shine.

And yes, it has some major plot holes, some shoddy visual effects, and it falls a bit…
