Equals 2015
A compelling film that gave me chills at times with its emotional intensity. Light and sound propel the narrative forward and carry the film as much as Stewart and Hoult's performances. The locations and cinematography work well to heighten the emotions of the film and I was left thinking about it for days afterwards. Set in a technologically advanced society with stunted emotions, where any emotional expression is classified as a medical disorder, the film provides an apt social commentary on the dangers of reaching too far for perfection. It stood up well on the second watch and has easily become one of my favourite films.
