The Greatest Showman 2017
The pacing here was very weird. It moves way too fast and skips over stuff so often it doesn’t feel like anything gets enough screen time. Like the relationship with Phillip and Anne. He looked at her once tried to hold her hand and then they are singing about how they want each other. Also I can’t help but find it disappointing how they made her the only “freak” that’s conventionally attractive who gets a love arc.

Heavy Traffic 1973
I think I’m really starting to admit Ralph Bakshis style. It’s over the top and isn’t afraid to be non pc. But he knows how to not make his works legitimately offensive. For example the main couple in this movie is interracial.
But putting all that stuff aside I’ve really come to admire how much of a visionary he is. This film was very experimental with blending live action footage with animation. And this was over a decade before Roger Rabbit would come out. And I won’t spoil it here but the ending really makes the whole thing come together in an interesting way.
