I enjoyed watching old-school Burton aesthetics deployed with a verve I haven't detected in his work for nearly 20 years, but good lord is the script an incoherent hodgepodge of disjointed ideas and zero momentum. I had been led to believe that this was a cut above most nostalgia bait, but still found this to be as hollow as they come.
