  Cheesy and historically inaccurate with a white saviour to boot. American propaganda at its finest — but covered with the uplift of Black women and a hint of Pan-Africanism under all that Kevin Costner destroying a segregated bathroom sign nonsense.

  I don’t know if it’s just the fact that I’ve been really really depressed these past few months, or that the nostalgia feels like too much, or that watching this makes me feel really little again, but… I cried through the entire thing. Silently and unbeknownst to my dear sweet mama who instead sang along the whole time. I fall in love with this film every time I watch it. <3
