The Gleaners and I: Two Years Later 2002
i really liked this continuation and revisiting of the first documentary, The Gleaners and I, or as Varda noted in french, Les glaneurs et la glaneuse, which i prefer because it positions her as a gleaner rather than being amongst the gleaners.
i felt this as a more personal film than the first one, maybe because Varda had an opportunity to reflect and make new connections with people who have contacted her after the release of Gleaners.

this is a gorgeous movie but i feel quite cheated by the end, to be honest. i have two gripes with this film and that sucks because i want to love it so much because it is so beautiful, both visually and audibly. the lack of score and light throughout the film make it claustrophobic, and the shining sun at the end feels all too brief despite gifting a deep breath.
