Standout performances in a simple story.
Some of the criticism is that this movie isn’t about Ani as a character, but I also think that’s much of the point and commentary on how we treat sex workers and by proxy services workers like the maids, cooks, hotel workers etc who run the world. It isn’t until the rich and powerful want you for better or worse that you get a light shown on you, but even then the rich and powerful make it about themselves.
I think in all this is very good class commentary wrapped up in a screwball comedy.
