The one dimensional characters and terrible script could be excused if the visuals were actually interesting, but flooding flat and boring shots with monochrome lighting doesn't make them any more dynamic. Better watch a Gaspar Noe movie or two to see how this is done the right way. Also, everyone who thinks this is anywhere close to a peak Nic Cage performance really needs to watch Bad Lieutenant 2 immediately.
