  So obviously nothing will ever come close to the novel. And maybe it was the story itself that swayed me to adore the film, but I loved the portrayal of the young boys - they really kept the story alive for me. However, I wasn’t a fan of the adult actors. The true horror and trauma I felt in the book wasn’t as present. However, it was a solid adaptation

  I just feel incredibly angry after watching this film. The whole content leaves me with a feeling of hopelessness and despair. It brilliantly demonstrated how the system is set up to actively fail migrants. It also showed how people can be radicalised into hating migrants. It does a really good job of showing the complexity, anger, misogyny, hatred that some men go through when they are disillusioned with society. A powerful watch that was quite clunky in places, but overall a good but angering film
