  being tired out of my mind watching this did not help the fact that this movie was a much slower burn than I expected. interesting plot but I felt like some of the acting was a little flat? idk thought I'd like this more

  such an unexpectedly engrossing film! a weighty examination of how trauma can lead us to hurt our loved ones and ourselves, and in twisted ways simultaneously lead us to discover new forms of beauty and experience.

  this movie was so beautifully shot and scored. phenomenal performances. I loved the thematic undertones (sexuality, religion, class, personhood, etc.). barely felt the 3.5 hour runtime

  as someone completely unfamiliar with the play, the dance club scene is what took this from good to great for me - and defying gravity is such a banger holy crap.

  camp at times and the themes/plot was a little underdeveloped but the music numbers were outstanding. enjoyed this a ton!
