I love David Mamet movies. I’ll say that at the forefront and I also love Gene Hackman and Danny DeVito. So right there we have a great start! This was a good typical Mamet film. Lots of intrigue, twists, and heavy dialogue with a play-like feel. It had some good action scenes and slight realness to it. Danny DeVito is a sleezy sweatshop owning thug which is great and Sam Rockwell his cousin. Just like all his work it lays…
The worst of a bad but often fun franchise. Less fun then ever was had in this installment as we have left earth for fantasy. Mike is a newly kept man in London. His wealthy partner is having him direct a strip play to ruffle high society’s feathers. What made the others kinda work was the realness of some of the characters that surround Mike. In this film those characters are reduced to a Skype call (best scene in the…
If you are seeking big thrills and twist this is not the M. Night film for you. It’s worth seeing for Dave Bautista alone. Bautista has become such a wonderful versatile actor. This film simply does not work without his control and sensitivity. It’s a steady film that’s a fairly simple morality play but it’s done solidly. Worth seeing. (AMC Glendale)
Solid “on the run” thriller that in a twist almost entirely takes place on a train. Gene Hackman is always a surprising lead in films like this but is always great! There is good action and good suspense. I wish Hollywood still turned out movies like this. End of the movie was a little ruined a by freeze frame gotcha ending but ignoring that it was a good film! Honestly it’s funny seeing how recently train travel was still important. Lots of classic train antics like walking on top of the cars that can’t be missed. Worth seeing! (Watched at home)
