A Real Pain 2024
I loved this so much.
The story introduced the viewers to the dilemma, but didn’t try to solve it. It showed a tiny piece from two people’s journey, without forcefully ending it with any kind of solution or satisfaction. It wasn’t cliche or didactic, it was a wonderfully written screenplay with a fantastic team of actors and crew. I honestly didn’t expect this film to achieve such depth, but I am so glad it did. Jesse and Kieran’s performance was incredible, I was awestruck the whole time by the naturalness of their presence on-screen.

Unbelievably funny, tragic and beautiful – while not being self-servingly cruel, pornographic or traumatising, using perfect portions of everything.
The actors portray the characters very accurately and realistically. Not a single unnatural move. I will think about Anora’s character for a while, Mikey Madison’s performance was incredible.
The director is commendable, this is such a layered piece of artwork.
