Everything it needed to be and more, done the way only filmmakers with extreme love and appreciation for the franchise could have.
The characters are full of personality, with noticeable arcs and development - the monsters, that is. When the fact that this movie was going to be made was first made public, and with WB/DC's recent cinematic track record, I groaned and rolled my eyes at the same time for at least 5 seconds.
