The Substance 2024
I’ve heard negative opinions on the end of the movie, so here’s my take as an art student;i feel like it’s exhibiting how grotesque it gets for women in the current pharma-porn media-tic era and how everyone just points and criticizes while also consuming the media and collaborating to uphold the impossible standards and body procedures, the blood gushing scene was like a metaphor for how the spectator is also complicit, literally stained with blood, and the exaggerated almost funny display was a hipérbole of the spectacle we make of women’s bodies and all of this, the spectacle society yikes.
