Cried and smiled throughout just like Hirayama and honestly I think that about sums it up.
I felt the emotion right alongside him. It felt so authentic.
Really obsessed with this one. I’m so glad, at least from my perspective, it seems like this movie avoided the all too easy route of being toxically positive.
Could have easily said, just be happy and content with everything no matter what.

Hard to give this a rating out of 5 stars compared to other film reviews. This, while presented in documentary format, is a different form of art and I’m not so sure it can be treated the same.
A heartbreaking story told through the lens of such a unique perspective. I felt as if it was a very important, if not difficult watch. Lots of emotion. Sadness and anger of course but hope and admiration of the strength and resilience…
