Anora 2024
Kinetic, thrilling, uncomfortable but sadly Anora’s character was FLAT! Lacked depth, nuance, backstory literally anything to humanize her. As a native NYer it’s offensive. Like all they did was give her a strong accent and tell her to stay angry. Like that was her whole character?! Offensive to women and New Yorkers! Loved Bakers other movies but this did not hit for me. I did love all the Coney shots and S Brooklyn scenes!
