Overindulgent by every metric, but I’m right in the target audience, and I enjoyed the cameos and over-the top action in spite of the thinner plot points driving it all. Hugh carries the show for me.

The Marvels 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The pacing of this story is either all disjointed frenzy or slow dialogue filling in gaps for past titles. And then every single emotional moment feels RUSHED. And every conflict solved after a quick quippy conversation.
I like these characters and these actors, but this movie is by far less than the sum of its parts. Also, doesn’t every good body swap movie know that you don’t body swap until act two? After jumping into the switching antics tight out…

Top Gun: Maverick 2022
This movie is exactly what you think it is and does it exactly as it should. A puffed-up paint-by-number predictable propaganda piece? Yes. And a rollicking good time carried on a huge wave of nostalgia, and so well produced. Best seen on the big screen.
Also, Tom should wear a helmet when he’s riding his motorcycle; be a better example to the kids.Translated from by -
Oppenheimer 2023
Loved seeing this with Zack and Nick—this movie will haunt me for a long time, I think.
Nolan, here, seems to arrive at what he’s been trying to do with sound, (nonlinear) story, and visual narrative. Holy cow. And the actors are excellent, bar none. This is both Nolan’s biggest/most ambitions film and his most intimately and personally human one. It might be his best yet.
On the subject matter: it’s like we’re just a bunch of ants who’ve played long enough with shoes and magnifying glasses to think we know enough to decide where we might park our steamroller.
