    This was nothing like what I expected from a 1950s film. The portrayal of mental illness felt so real — it was mesmerizing to see that level of acting, especially for a time when performances could be very hit or miss. Brando starts off as just an ordinary worker, but gradually becomes absolutely terrifying. Even the apartment feels like a character of its own, with its decaying, decrepit aesthetic adding to the tension. While I found it an interesting watch, I don’t think I would watch it again.
