    even better on a rewatch. i can't believe i didn't catch the "they don't know" callback the first time around. this might be my favourite movie of all-time

    in my first "review" i said that i wanted the opening scene to last the entire movie (not knowing about the original short film which was just that), but now i very much feel that it essentially does

    from start to finish, thunder road evokes heart-wrenching sadness but never lets you know if you're about to laugh or cry

    dude can we talk about the like ethical and existential implications of cloning right now? can we do a little more clonecest?

    super fun performance from r-pats, but this was bong's least focused movie by a mile. just when we were getting somewhere with the clone dynamics, the movie shifts to a the-aliens-are-actually-pretty-chill-man storyline that we've all seen before, and worst of all, it doesn't even use the clones in an interesting way in that context
