Queer 2024
A disjointed, sweat-soaked, fever dream of a film. Allerton slinks about like an emotionally inscrutible Leyendecker painting pursued by Lee's shivery clumsy junkie. It feels uncomfortably familiar to watch Lee try and scratch away at the surface of his lover, trying to find something he can recognise, let down by the failings of verbal communication. Feels weirdly sentimental for a William S. Burroughs adaptation (where are the Mugwumps??) and the anachronistic soundtrack was a bit immersion breaking for me idk. I can't believe I get to see Daniel Craig give TWO blowjobs on screen in the year of our lord 2024 🙏
