Super impressive how well it introduces this massive cast of characters and their relationships to one another. I was never confused as to who was who or what they did or who else they knew; it was all abundantly clear after the introductory scenes.
I really struggled to stay locked in with this one though. In the middle section especially, there was just not a lot going on. It all came back together with the ending, which was fantastic. I think I’d appreciate this more on a rewatch.

Was a little disappointed by this despite it still being a good movie. Maybe I’m judging too harshly cause it’s Bong, but I felt that the beginning established so many interesting ideas (the reasons behind multiples being outlawed, the religious subtext of the whole voyage) only for it to fall into really familiar territory by the end. I would’ve liked to see that stuff get explored more instead of basic class and environmental commentary.
Very conflicted on Mark Ruffalos performance…
Opening scene is the possibly the best editing I’ve ever seen, but multiple great instances of parallel editing throughout this whole thing. A lot of this went right over my head though.
