Of course, seeing a chinese film make a huge global impact on the film world is exciting. And yes, the visuals were next level in every single scene. But I can't get past the writing. It's so contrived and it's so pitiful to think about what could have been the best animated film in a long time. But I'll give it another shot since most people seem to really enjoy it. I might have not been in the mood for it, or have some specific peculiar biases against the themes and messaging that reflect both traditional chinese culture and contemporary chinese social norms.
