Josie and the Pussycats 2001
this movie is literally I swear a perfect 5 stars. a scathing cultural commentary—it fairly and brutally indicts the corporatization of the music industry, consumer culture, and maybe even capitalism more broadly. it has perfect early 00s aesthetics, parker posey doing her thing, alan cumming doing his thing, and the version of rosario dawson that would’ve never dated cory booker. it makes you feel nostalgic, fun, confused. the soundtrack slaps and I simply won’t hear otherwise. case closed 5 stars
