…anyway. i enjoyed this movie SO much more than i thought i would. i know people will probably disagree but i really felt that same overwhelming emotion that i feel when i watch musicals live. also the performances were REALLY good, both acting and singing. this actually felt like fresh air compared to some of the shows and movies i’ve been watching on streaming services where people just can’t act.
i’m excited for part 2 and i will be listening to ‘no one mourns the wicked’ till then cause that song slaps so hard.

i’ve watched a LOT of sport movies and it can be hard to see anything unique in them once you’re on your fifth ‘underdog wins the championship’ plot (even though i will eat it up everytime), but this one has a passion and a story that i feel makes it unique. really beautiful movie with representation of a beautiful and rich culture that we need to see more of in movies and popular culture. the radio hosts at the end of the movie really encapsulate my review. love it. also, support indigenous filmmakers!!
