The Persian Version 2023
I cannot believe I haven’t heard more about this movie. You barely see production like this, I had the most bizarre balance of crying and laughter. I feel so seen and safe as a Persian American who’s breaking out the generational mindset that’s been instilled before me. So proud to be a first gen creative persian woman, so much love. I feel for our mothers and the sacrifices they’ve gone through to raise us, whilst being our moms they were also just kids learning how to live and feel. BEAUTIFUL MOVIE oh my god

If you look close enough in the kayak scene you can see me drowning
Good GOD this movie broke me and brought me to life in all the right ways. To love and to age is a privilege. There is nothing more pure than real love whether that’s platonic or romantic, I am in awe. One of those romance films that remind you to love shamelessly and fully and to not settle for less. Situationship mothafuckers need to rot

Taste of Cherry 1997
I’m not going to let myself begin to express how this film let me feel, because it will be an endless array of words that will never fulfill the love and grief that this film made me feel. There was a part of my humanity that was never seen in a film before. I feel seen, I feel safe, I have hope. The visuals and non verbal communication was unlike any other I’ve seen. Also felt so in touch with my roots. Beautiful work

Anora 2024
Beautiful film. Firstly visuals were so so special and well thought out. Strangely they were able to incorporate humor without steering away from the focal point of the movie. I never expected myself to resonate with Anora, but I guess that’s just the experience of being a woman. The second she was seen with any humanity she was uncertain of how to act and accept being seen beyond her physical. It was unbearable and scary and that was so heart…
