Anora 2024
Fun watch. To me, the most interesting aspect was the depiction of being in your early 20s and being aware of your adult freedom but still feeling/acting like a teenager, which I think is obviously Ivan’s experience but also Ani’s, albeit in a less obvious way. Ending made me pretty emotional. Someone said Ani and Igor constantly get one-shotted because they’re the only ones who have a personal moral code. I think that’s true. Side note: as a native New Yorker, I found Mikey Madison’s fake New York accent pretty grating.

Requiem for a Dream 2000
Harry’s mom is the most interesting character. Ellen Burstyn fucking kills it in that role—Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich did not deserve that Oscar. The style has been done poorly by others… Aronofsky is clearly the OG.

Trainwreck 2015
The flim is a trainwreck. I sometimes enjoy what many consider to be “bad” films; recognizing that they are not well made but finding that flaws and all, they still manage to entertain. This is not one of those films.
